Слава Тобі Боже! Glory to You, O God! Δόξα Σοι ο Θεός!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ —
With the Blessing of His Grace, ANDRIY, Bishop of the Eastern Eparchy, we humbly present the “Cantoring Skills Workshop” for Summer 2014 – Spring, 2015 — a series of lectures, practica and Liturgical Worship that will give participants a deeper understanding of Christian Worship and the Orthodox Faith as practiced in the Eastern Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada — using UOCC Liturgical Texts (in Ukrainian and English) arranged for Kyivan chant and Obikhod melodies.
Workshop Lectures
Each Workshop will begin at 2:00pm with prayer — and end in worship with the Office of Vespers. The opening prayer will be followed by a lecture on a particular aspect of Liturgical Worship, traditions surrounding the Liturgical Year, our responsibilities as active participants in the Glorification of God and the Life of Christ’s Living Church, a short vocal warm-up and the review of texts and musical arrangements. Questions on any aspect of the services covered are welcome and encouraged — the workshops are a wonderful opportunity to discover more about our faith.
A particular focus for this year’s Cantoring Workshop will be: The Divine Liturgy, Lenten (Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete, Passia) and Paschal Services.
