What pleasure in this life remains unmarked by sorrow?
What glory can endure upon this earth unchanged?
All is feebler than a shadow, more deceptive than a dream —
For death, in a single moment, takes all things away.
But in the light of Your countenance, O Christ,
and in the joy of Your beauty,
give rest to him whom You have chosen,
for You are the lover of mankind.
Дорогі у Христі браття і сестри,
Text of the Чин Похорону Мирян • Funeral Rite of a Layman, (UOCC. Winnipeg, 2008), in Ukrainian and English, set to music: in all, 140 pages of notes with helpful rubrics and instruction for those singing and reading at the services. Because the work is lengthy, there are several options for downloading the files.
The first file, Funeral_Rite_of_a_Layman_UA_EN_COMBINED.pdf, presents both Ukrainian and English text and music. The content is interlaced: each page in Ukrainian is mirrored in English, so that a collated binder may be easily printed — with Ukrainian on one side of a binder and English on the other.
The second file is a Ukrainian-only version of all the music: Funeral_Rite_of_a_Layman_UA_COMPLETE.pdf.
The third option is an English-only version of all the music: Funeral_Rite_of_a_Layman_EN_COMPLETE.pdf.
The final option is to download the files individually. These individual files contain both Ukrainian and English text and music, but they are not interwoven — so that Ukrainian and English pages might be printed separately as desired.
